The focus of my Thesis was to use 3D reconstructions of domestic architecture in the Hellenistic city of Olynthos. These reconstructions allowed for an analysis of the amount of natural light available at different times of the day. The aim of the research was to determine how much artificial lighting - primarily in the form of oil lamps - was needed to carry out daily tasks and chores in 2nd Century domestic spaces. This information is not evident in the archaeological records, but can tell us a lot about the daily lives of ancient Greeks.
